Essential Cookies

Accessibility Statement

This website is managed by Ash-cum-Ridley Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, you should be able to:

  • Zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen
  • Change contrast and colours using your browser or device settings
  • Navigate most of the site using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • Listen to most content using screen readers (including the latest versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We have also made the text as clear and simple as possible to understand.

For help adjusting your device, AbilityNet provides advice for people with a range of accessibility needs.

How accessible this website is

While we aim to meet accessibility standards across our website, we know some areas still need improvement:

  • Line height and spacing of text cannot currently be modified
  • Some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen readers
  • Some images lack alternative text (fails WCAG 2.2 criterion 1.1.1)
  • Some content may be difficult to navigate using assistive technology.

Technical information

Ash-cum-Ridley Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard, due to the issues listed below.

Planned improvements

From July 2025, all newly published documents and content will meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards. Where possible, older documents are being reviewed and updated — especially those essential to accessing our services. All new documents created by us will meet accessibility requirements.

Content outside the scope of the regulations

Documents published before 23 September 2018 are exempt from the regulations unless they are essential to providing a service. Some content on our site is created or supplied by third parties. Where possible, we will provide an accessible version on request.

We do not consider any part of the site to represent a disproportionate burden at this time.

How we tested this website

This statement was prepared on 30 July 2025. It will be reviewed annually or sooner if major changes are made.

The site was last tested in July 2025 against WCAG 2.2 AA standards. Testing was carried out using automated tools and manual checks on the most visited pages by Ash-cum-Ridley Parish Council and our website provider, HugoFox.
